The city of Sevilla
Sevilla lies on the banks of the Guadalquivir and is one of the largest historical centres in
Europe. It has hosted two international exhibitions (1929 and 1992) and is the administrative
capital of Andalucía.
Spirited and full of tradition, Seville deserves its reputation as one of the most beautiful and
romantic of Spain's ancient cities. In the city's historic quarter, attractions include Santa
Cruz Jewish quarter; the Gothic Cathedral, said to be the final resting place of Columbus;
the Giralda Tower; the Moorish Alcazar Palace and the beautiful Maria Luisa Park. On the
other side of the Guadalquivir river there is the Triana quarter and Cartuja with the Park of
Discoveries and the Monastery of Santa Maria de las Cuevas. At night you can choose
from a variety of 'Tapas' bars in the Santa Cruz quarter, or the more modern nightspots
near the Plaza de Armas old station and there is no better place to enjoy the 'Flamenco'
folklore than Seville.
Other sights not to be missed are, in the old city, the Casa de Pilatos, a large
sixteenth-century mansion where Mudejar, Gothic and Renaissance styles blend
harmoniously amidst exuberant patios and gardens and, crossing the Triana bridge over the
large Guadalquivir River, the lively popular quarter of Triana with charming narrow streets
around the church of Santa Ana and traditional ceramic factories.

Tarifa
Tarifa is a small town on the southernmost coast of Spain. It is popular with windsurfers
and kitesurfers due to the strong winds of the straits. Tarifa is also an excellent place to
watch migrating birds, in particular the storks which cross the Straits of Gibraltar in spring
and autumn. Also whale and dolphin watching can be done on the 14 kilometer wide
Straits. Tarifa is well-known for its white sandy beaches, with trendy bars on the shore
that attract a multicultural and varied young crowd night and day.
Tarifa's historic downtown makes a perfect destination for those who love strolling along
small winding streets, where every corner offers a taste of its ancient history.
Tarifa has daily ferries to Morocco, making possible day-trips to Tangier, just across the
Gibraltar Strait.
